Schematic Design

The primary purpose of the schematic design phase is to explain the design concept to the Owner, Physician, Family and / or Staff. The schematics demonstrate the use of the spaces and their relationships, and can be offered as a stand-alone service or as part of a complete professional solution. This service includes:

  • Operational Space Planning to enhance the efficiencies of the users that improve patient flow or resident services, and reduce travel distances
  • Organizational Space Planning to minimize facility chaos by the arraignment of similar uses and the separation of nuisances and hazards
  • Provisioning for improved interior performance like in-office collections, superior sound attenuation and enhanced temperature control

Medical Planning

Medical planning to the specialization of the design process for the medical community.  Design is a process, and we’ll help you through it to understand how your practice  will operate most efficiently to enhance the physician and patient experience.  We apply evidence-based planning and design with clinical indicators and economic outcomes that reward quality measure and productivity.

  • Medical Planning Facility Analysis: to establish your short and long term practice goals, determine the productivity demands of the physicians and staff, creating more efficient flow and communication systems, and establish the required space program and project budget to meet those goals
  • Floor Plans: to establish the relationships, forms, size and appearance of the project
  • Reflected Ceiling Plan: to illustrate lighting location, ceiling heights, HVAC zoning, air supply and return, aesthetic detail and recommended ceiling material
  • Furnishing & Power Plan: to provide an assessment of room layouts with furniture, equipment, outlets, light switches, phone jacks and more
  • Casework Elevations Plan: to illustrate built-in cabinetry with the operational features and quality levels of casework
  • Outline Specifications: to provide detailed information on special materials and systems in the facility

The materials used on the exterior and interior should be as maintenance free as possible and constructed for longevity and durability. The goal is to build the best medical space possible for the least amount of money. This service includes:

  • Construction documents: including architecture, interior design, engineering, and specifications
  • Statement of Probable Construction Cost: ensures the client of what is being bought
  • Plan Approval: submitting documents for approval and permitting and completing planning agency requirements
  • Project bidding: Stegenga+PARTNERS will prequalify a list of approved contactors to bid the project, and then assist the owner in evaluating the bidders
  • Project Administration: part of the construction phase which includes periodic site visits to observe the construction progress and compliance with the construction documents
